Okay, now let's get into my Fall TBR! Books are in alphabetical order by title. All covers are linked to Goodreads.
Fall 2025 TBR
Courting Mr. Lincoln, by Louis Bayard (Historical Fiction) - Ever since I heard Mr. Bayard speak on a panel at the 2024 Washington Writers Conference, I've been interested in his books. This one will fulfill the prompt "The name of and/or a depiction of a famous person" on my 2025 Cover Lovers Reading Challenge.
Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales, by Heather Fawcett (Fantasy) - I can't wait to read the third installment of the Emily Wilde series! I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books. This one also fulfills a Cover Lovers Reading Challenge prompt: "Bookish elements".
Good Spirits, by B.K. Borison (Holiday Romance) - Another Cover Lovers Reading Challenge prompt! "Something that is plaid"–I do admit that the plaid portion of this cover is minuscule, but it's there and I claim it!
Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins (YA Dystopian) - I am so so so excited to read this; the first two books in the series were amazing!!
Starling House, by Alix E. Harrow (Gothic Fantasy) - October's prompt for the 2025 Fantasy/Sci-Fi Reading Challenge is "A Gothic Fantasy Book", and I saw this book described somewhere as gothic fantasy. I've never read anything by Alix Harrow, so I'm definitely curious about this one!
The Chateau, by Jaclyn Goldis (Thriller) - I enjoy a good thriller now and then; this one was on my Goodreads TBR and it just happens to fit the prompt "A lighted window" for the Cover Lovers Reading Challenge!
The Last Tiger, by Julia Riew (Fantasy) - My friend sent me a reel on Instagram where the author talked about how this story was inspired by her grandparents' actual experiences in Korea. It came out in July and I just haven't made time to read it yet! (To no one's surprise, it also fits the bill for one of the prompts in the Cover Lovers Reading Challenge: "A frame-worthy design".)
The Palace of Illusions, by Rowenna Miller (Fantasy) - Since this is a retelling of The Nutcracker, I plan to read it in December (aaaaand it also fits the prompt "An author that has a common name spelled in an uncommon way").
The Princess Companion: A Retelling of The Princess and the Pea, by Melanie Cellier (YA Fantasy) - My young friend at church recommended this to me. And it's a retelling of The Princess and the Pea! I've been looking for a full-length retelling of this fairytale for ages! (I have already read and loved Gail Carson Levine's retelling, The Princess Test.)
Warrior Princess Assassin, by Brigid Kemmerer (Romantasy) - I actually own this one! I have enjoyed Brigid Kemmerer's YA fantasy that I've read, but I'm not sure if I'll like her adult fantasy, especially since the Goodreads blurb describes it as "steamy". I guess we'll see!
