Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Goals for 2025

Top Ten Tuesday is a tag hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader GirlThis week's prompt is "Bookish Goals for 2025."

Happy Tuesday! I'm super excited about this week's post, as I've decided to participate in some organized reading challenges this year! But first, how did I do with my goals in 2024?

My only bookish goals for 2024 were to go to a writers conference (which I did) and read 60 books (which I also did!). Cool. Now let's move on to ...

Bookish Goals for 2025

Goal #1: Read at least 50 books.

Goal #2: Read at least 5 Middle Grade books.

Goal #3: Read at least 12 books from my paper TBR (as opposed to my Goodreads "Want to read" list; I only started using Goodreads last year, so I have quite a long list on paper).

Goal #4: Attend the 2025 Washington Writers Conference and pitch Hunted to at least three literary agents.

Goal #5: (This one might be too ambitious, but ...) Read ALL of the books I didn't get to from 2024 lists (I've already read two, which leaves 25–that's half my entire reading goal for the year!).

Goal #6: Read at least one book for each National Month.

Goal #7: Participate in the 2025 Cover Lovers Reading Challenge (hosted by Susan at Bloggin' 'bout Books) at Level Two (11-20 books).

Goal #8: Participate in the 2025 Fantasy/Sci-Fi Reading Challenge (hosted by Rachel at Fantasy and Sci-Fi Fanatics).

Goal #9: Participate in the 2025 New Release Challenge (hosted by The Chocolate Lady's Book Review Blog) as a New Release Newbie (1-30 books).

Goal #10: Read at least one post by another book blogger per week.

Are you setting any bookish goals for yourself in 2025? Are you doing any reading challenges? Let me know in the comments!

  2. Wow🤩 If anyone can accomplish those goals, you can! My goal is to read 3 books per month/36 books this year. I noticed last year that some months I’d read five or six books, but others I’d finish maybe one. I wanna be more consistent :)

    1. Thank you for the confidence boost! :D Three books per month is a solid goal. I tend to read anywhere from 5-8 books per month.

    1. Thanks! I probably should have explained more about #6–there are a ton of national and international designations for each month, but for example, January is Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, so I'll read something that has to do with that topic. February is Black History Month, March is Women's History Month, etc.
I will check out Katherine Applegate's books, thank you for the recommendation!

    2. My book goal this year is also 50 books! Slightly less than last year for me, but I think its a more comfortable goal. Happy Top Ten Tuesday!

    1. Thank you! I love reading other people's posts, and I find so many good titles that way, but I need to make more of an effort to set aside the time for it!

    2. Karis, I get it! Some weeks I am great about it and other weeks I only visit the ones who have visited mine (time constraints, not intentional)!

  6. These look like great goals! Seems like they all kinda pull together to make sure you have a fun and varied reading year, which is really important (or so I find anyway!).

    1. Thanks! That was the goal of the goals, one might say. While I could easily read fantasy all day every day (if I had the time), I really enjoy shaking things up and making sure I'm getting a varied "diet" of different types of books!

  8. Goal #5 makes me feel anxious for you, lol. There are so many books from last year that I didn't get to, and the year before that, and the year before that... it feels impossible. I wish you luck with these!

    1. Honestly it makes me a bit anxious too lol! These are just books from lists I did on my blog last year (like Top Ten Tuesday lists) that I didn't get to, and I want to prioritize them because a lot of them have been on my TBR for quite some time! I'm expecting to read a lot more than 50 books, so even though it's half my reading goal, in reality it'll probably be less than half of what I actually read.

    2. That makes total sense! There are a lot of books I've been really looking forward to in past years that never got read. I really should prioritize those as well.
