Top Ten Tuesday: Books with the Word Star in the Title

Top Ten Tuesday is a tag hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader GirlThis week's prompt is "Books with the Word –– in the Title"

For this prompt, I went with the word "star". Other words I considered were blade, house, spell, glass, and darkness, but I came up with ten books with "star" in the title first.

These picks are in alphabetical order, and all covers are linked to Goodreads.

1. All the Stars and Teeth, by Adalyn Grace

Genre: YA Fantasy

Release Date: February 2020

This should have been on my list of series I didn't finish. But at least it has a pretty cover! The one thing I did like about it was that it mentioned the main character's period. We need more representation of female bodily functions in books!

2. Enchantress from the Stars, by Sylvia Engdahl

Genre: YA Sci-Fi

Release Date: February 1970

I need to reread this! I read it for school years ago and I remember it being so good.

3. Forging Silver into Stars, by Brigid Kemmerer

Genre: YA Fantasy

Release Date: June 2022

I really enjoyed this. I still need to read the sequel, Carving Shadows into Gold.

4. Starless, by Jacqueline Carey

Genre: Fantasy

Release Date: June 2018

This was probably my favorite book that I read last year. I need to read more by Jacqueline Carey!

5. Swimming in a Sea of Stars, by Julie Wright

Genre: YA Contemporary

Release Date: August 2023

This book is on my paper TBR, so I haven't actually read it yet! The cover is stunning, though.

6. The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green

Genre: YA Contemporary

Release Date: January 2012

It was okay, but not something I'd choose to reread.

7. The Starless Sea

Genre: Fantasy

Release Date: November 2019

I read this while I was doing a work trade at a farm in West Virginia, and I remember looking forward to the end of the day when I could curl up with this and lose myself in its beautiful weirdness.

8. The Stars Did Wander Darkling

Genre: Middle Grade Horror

Release Date: September 2022

This was excellent, and a perfect level of horror for me 😁

9. The Sun is Also a Star

Genre: YA Contemporary

Release Date: November 2016

Wasn't a fan of this book.

10. Under the Same Stars, by Libba Bray

Genre: YA Historical Fiction

Release Date: February 2025

This is the only other book on this list that I haven't read. But I'm excited to!

Are there any books you've read with "star" in the title that I missed?

  2. Hey! Thanks for stopping by. The only ones I've read on your list was The Fault In Our Stars, which was revolutionary to 14 year old me! Though I don't think I'd enjoy it so much now. And I also really didn't enjoy The Sun is Also a Star, I tried many years ago and I think I gave up half way through. I can't even remember what it was about!

    1. For some reason I get The Sun is Also a Star and Everything Everything mixed up in my head, maybe because I read them around the same time and didn't enjoy either of them terribly much lol. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I love Libba Bray. Is this book, Under the Same Stars, got her signature sense of humor on display? I also loved The Fault in Our Stars. I just read John Green's book Everything is Tuberculosis and thought I need to reread The Fault in Our Stars. My word is WORLD: https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2025/04/ttt-strange-collection-of-books-all.html

    1. I loved her Gemma Doyle series. I'm hopeful that Under the Same Stars is written in her signature style–I'll find out when I read it! Did you enjoy Everything is Tuberculosis? I've been seeing it all over Goodreads!

  5. Of course I read The Fault in our Stars! I also think of To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini and The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus.

We have one book in common, but with a different prompt :)
