Top Ten Tuesday: Books with Animal Main Characters

Happy Tuesday, y'all! Top Ten Tuesday is a tag hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader GirlThis week's prompt is "Animal Companions" and was submitted by P.S. I Love Books!

I went a slightly different route with this and chose to list ten books with animal main characters. The Wind in the Willows is the only book on this list that I dislike. All covers are linked to Goodreads.

1. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, by Robert C. O'Brien

2. The Tale of Despereaux, by Kate DiCamillo

3. Watership Down, by Richard Adams

4. The Mouse with the Question Mark Tail, by Richard Peck

5. Redwall, by Brian Jacques

6. Animal Farm, by George Orwell

7. Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White

8. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, by Rudyard Kipling

9. Little Bo, by Julie Andrews Edwards

10. The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame

Have you read any of these? Do you like reading books with animal main characters? Please leave the link to your Top Ten Tuesday in the comments–I'd love to stop by your blog!

    1. Thank you! I just realized that I completely forgot Winnie-the-Pooh! But since they're technically stuffed animals, I don't know if they count.

  8. I'm not a big fan of animals as main characters, but funny enough, I've read most of these books! The Rats of Nimh movie scared the snot out of me when I was a kid. I liked the book, though.

    Happy TTT!

    1. It's not a genre I gravitate towards either, but I read most of these when I was younger and I really enjoyed them then. I think I didn't even know there *was* a Rats of NIMH movie lol!

    1. I read The Mouse with the Question Mark Tail when I was eleven and absolutely loved it! Little Bo was cute, but I don't remember much about it.

  12. Charlotte's Webb is a family favorite in our house. Growing up, one of my favorite books with animal protagonist's was Harry Cat's Pet Puppy by George Selden. I haven't re-read it in years. I wonder if it still holds up.
