I can't believe it's already time to make a winter TBR! But first, how did I do with my fall TBR?
Courting Mr. Lincoln - Read
Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales - Read
Good Spirits - Read
Mockingjay - Read
Starling House - Read
The Chateau - Read
The Last Tiger - Read
The Palace of Illusions - Did not read (I have it on hold from the library)
The Princess Companion - Did not read (my library doesn't have it, so I asked for it for Christmas)
Warrior Princess Assassin - DNF (unfortunately this was one that I bought)
Not too bad! Now, let's get into my Winter 2025-26 TBR:
December
In the interest of setting a goal I can actually accomplish, I picked two books that I'm already reading. I don't usually do this, but I wanted to set myself up for success!
The Mechanical, by Ian Tregillis (Science Fiction/Fantasy) - December's prompt for the 2025 Fantasy and Sci-Fi Reading Challenge is "A Book With Robots", and it's the prompt I was looking forward to the least. Reddit recommended The Mechanical. It's okay so far.
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire (Fantasy) - Having watched both movies now, of course I need to read the book! I've heard it's very different from the musical, both plot-wise and in that it's much more graphic. I have a feeling I'll DNF it, but I'll give it a try!
January
Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident, by Donnie Eichar (Nonfiction) - I saw this book on Read All the Things! and thought it looked interesting. Very thematic for winter, too! I have a feeling I'll be very grateful to be all cozy under a blanket on my couch while I'm reading this.
Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir (Science Fiction) - My husband and I saw the trailer for the movie based on this book when we went to see the Superman movie back in July, and I keep seeing this book everywhere since then! I started reading the first page at a bookstore recently and it looked good, so I'm excited to try it.
The House Saphir, by Marissa Meyer (YA Fantasy) - A Bluebeard retelling by one of my favorite authors? Um, yes please!
February
A Tale of Time City, by Diana Wynne Jones (Fantasy) - I'm still chipping away at my paper TBR (the one I kept on paper before I switched over to Goodreads), and this is on it! I put it on my Christmas wishlist, so I'm kinda hoping I get it. If not, I'll just buy it from Thriftbooks!
Everything's Coming up Rosie, by Courtney Walsh (Romance) - My pastor's wife recommended this, and we have similar taste in books, so I think this will be a fun, light February read!
Nice Racism: How Progressive White People Perpetuate Racial Harm, by Robin DiAngelo (Nonfiction) - I spotted this at a bookstore and it looks like a thought-provoking read for Black History Month.
March
After the Fall, by Edward Ashton (Science Fiction) - I read Ashton's book The Fourth Consort back in June and absolutely loved it, so I'm really looking forward to After the Fall, which is supposed to release in February. I'm hoping my library will have it by March!
In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, by Nathaniel Philbrick (Nonfiction) - I found this one in a very maze-like bookstore in Texas and thought it looked interesting.

I loved Project Hail Mary and can’t wait for the film.
