Welcome back to the Sunday Salon (hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz)! I'm trying to join the linkup on the last Sunday of every month to share both life news and bookish updates.

March News
1. Live theater is the best! My sister and I went to see a local school's production of Into the Woods on the second weekend of March, and last weekend we saw a local church's production of The Prince of Egypt. Into the Woods was just as delightful as I had expected, but I was a tad underwhelmed by The Prince of Egypt (it was very well done, and a friend of mine played Moses and did a fantastic job; I've just never been drawn to that musical).
2. My other sister successfully defended her dissertation last Wednesday! I got to attend part of it on Zoom. I'm so proud of her!!!
3. I have been obsessed with Pride and Prejudice lately. There's a very special P&P-related blog post coming up in the next couple weeks!
Just Finished Reading
On Tuesday, I finished Jane Austen's Bookshelf: A Rare Book Collector's Quest to Find the Women Writers Who Shaped a Legend by Rebecca Romney. My eldest sister recommended this to me a while back and I'm so glad I read it! I mean, if that subtitle doesn't make you want to read it, I don't know what will. (Also: this book is the cause of my rekindled Pride and Prejudice obsession.)
On Friday, I finished Lodestar by Shannon Messenger. It's the fifth book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. Every book in this series so far has been consistently good, and I'm excited to read the sixth installment!
Currently Reading
I'm buddy reading This Story Might Save Your Life by Tiffany Crum with my best friend. We're both enjoying it so far!
I warned you that there would be much talk of Pride and Prejudice. I realized that the last time I read it was six years ago, so it was definitely time to revisit this classic! Since the copy I already owned is annotated and kind of distracting to read, I picked up a used copy at a local bookstore and it's been a fantastic reading experience.
My nonfiction read at the moment is Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick. The first part of this memoir was laugh-out-loud funny, but now that I'm in the middle I'm liking it less. We shall see how it progresses!

Top Ten Tuesday: Spring 2026 TBR

Pride and Prejudice is one of those books that seems to get better the more times you read it. I have become a fan of classic books over the last eight years that I've been retired. I like long, slow reads, especially reads with others.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do think it would be interesting to see what books inspired Jane Austen.
