Top Ten Tuesday is a tag hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's prompt is "May Flowers".
This week, I decided to go with books that have flower names in the title. It was surprisingly difficult to find ten, but I did! They are in alphabetical order, and all covers are linked to Goodreads.
A Forgery of Roses, by Jessica S. Olson
Genre: YA "Gothic Fantasy Murder Mystery"
Release Year: 2022
This one has been on my paper TBR for a long time. I had to reread the description because I had no idea what this was about anymore, and now I am intrigued by the magic system all over again!
Briar Rose, by Jane Yolen
Genre: Historical Fiction
Release Year: 1992
This was a weird book. I was expecting a fairytale and got a World War II death camp.
Lilac Girls, by Martha Hall Kelly
Genre: Historical Fiction
Release Year: 2016
Speaking of World War II! This is a recent addition to my TBR; it was mentioned in another book I just read (Lynne Olson's The Sisterhood of Ravensbrück) and I got curious.
Magic for Marigold, by L.M. Montgomery
Genre: Children's Fiction
Release Year: 1925
I remember very little about this book, but I do remember really liking it!
RoseBlood, by A.G. Howard
Genre: YA Fantasy/Retelling
Release Year: 2017
I'm not a huge fan of the actual The Phantom of the Opera book, but give me a retelling any day!
Rose in Bloom, by Louisa May Alcott
Genre: Classic
Release Year: 1876
I think I preferred Eight Cousins, but it's been so long that I honestly don't remember very much about either book.
The Foxglove King, by Hannah Whitten
Genre: Fantasy
Release Year: 2023
I really liked this, but I stopped reading the series after the second book, as things took a turn I didn't love.
The Rose Crown, by Catharine Glen
Genre: Fantasy
Release Year: 2016
This has been on my paper TBR for quite a while, but after refreshing my memory on the plot by reading the Goodreads blurb, I want to read it right now! However, it looks like my library doesn't have it, so I'll have to get it from Thriftbooks.
The Scarlet Pimpernel, by Baroness Emmuska Orczy
Genre: Historical Fiction
Release Year: 1905
It's so good! I need to reread it!
Thistlefoot, by GennaRose Nethercott
Genre: Fantasy
Release Year: 2022
This was a slower read for me, but so worth it. Beautifully told, evocative, and meaningful.

I went with the same idea but we have none in common :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your #TTT
Nice! I apparently just haven't read that many books with flowers in the title, but it was fun seeing everyone else's picks!
DeleteI love the cover of Magic for Marigold.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Yes, it's lovely! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThe cover of Thistlefoot is perfect. Thanks for stopping by earlier.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely unique!
DeleteA Forgery of Roses does sound fun! Looks like some good choices.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to getting into the ones I haven't read yet!
DeleteYou found some nice flower names in your titles. I've always wondered if I should read The Scarlet Pimpernel.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'd recommend it, especially since you like classics. I didn't realize until I was making this post that The Scarlet Pimpernel was written as late as 1905!
DeleteThe only book on your list I've heard of is The Scarlet Pimpernel. I actually read a book last year that featured Baroness Orczy as a character.

Oooh, what book was that?! (And was it good?)
DeleteUgh! Briar Rose - WWII death camp instead of a fantasy? I appreciate the warning! I’ve heard of The Scarlett Pimpernel, but haven’t read it. The others are all new to me.
ReplyDeleteIt was still a good story, but I wish the marketing leaned more on "historical fiction" than fantasy, because it's not fantasy at all.
