Taylor Swift Book Tag: Fearless

This seems to be an unpopular opinion, but my favorite Taylor Swift album is Fearless! It was the first album of hers that I actually enjoyed, and it's stuck with me since.

I'm going to be mixing up prompts from Peruse with Coffee's original tag with my own takes on the thirteen songs from the original album (Peruse with Coffee's tag doesn't include some of the original songs). All covers are linked to Goodreads. Let's go!

~ Track One: Fearless ~

A character who goes into situations headfirst, fearless

(From Peruse with Coffee)

It seems I have to include Emily Wilde on every list I make from now on–she just goes with everything! Emily really does seem to have a singular lack of fear. She knows what she's getting into and she (thinks she) knows she can handle it–so she just goes for it!

~ Track Two: Fifteen ~

A book you remember loving in high school

(From Peruse with Coffee)

This YA novel in verse is so good!

~ Track Three: Love Story ~

Your favorite Shakespeare retelling or Shakespeare-inspired novel

(From Peruse with Coffee)

I haven't read any Shakespeare retellings, but after looking at several Goodreads lists, I now want to! This retelling of Ophelia's story looks fantastic and I want to give it a try!

~ Track Four: Hey Stephen ~

A book you think about all the time

(My Take)

Sometimes this book just pops into my head and I marvel again at how epic it was.

~ Track Five: White Horse ~

Favorite princess-saves-herself story

(From Peruse with Coffee)

Ella does have quite a bit of help, but ultimately she breaks her curse by herself–no one else could do that for her.

~ Track Six: You Belong with Me ~

A book cover crush that you need on your shelf ASAP

(From Peruse with Coffee)

I don't usually add books to my TBR just because of the cover, so I chose a book I wanted to read anyway, and the cover is also stunning.

(Fun fact: not only is "You Belong with Me" my favorite track on Fearless, it's probably my favorite Taylor Swift song of all time!)

~ Track Seven: Breathe ~

A book where the main romantic relationship doesn't work out

(My Take)

Okay, so while this book has some ... problems, it's a fantastic story (in my opinion). And oh my gosh, *SPOILER INCOMING* Scarlett being so self-absorbed and obsessed with Ashley until it's too late for her to actually find happiness with Rhett ... 💔 *END OF SPOILER*

~ Track Eight: Tell Me Why ~

A book that hurt you

(My Take)

If you've read this, you'll know what I mean 😭 You think it's going to be a fun romantasy set in Wonderland ... until you remember that it's the Queen of Hearts' backstory 💀

~ Track Nine: You're Not Sorry ~

A character who's not sorry

(My Take)

None of these characters are sorry 💀

~ Track Ten: The Way I Loved You ~

A character who makes poor relationship decisions

(My Take)

This would have to be Jasmine from Here One Moment. I read this recently, so that's probably why it popped into my head. She's such a minor character, but as she herself admits, she has terrible taste in guys.

~ Track Eleven: Forever & Always ~

A book that took you 27 words, pages, days, hours, minutes, etc to DNF or unhaul

(From Peruse with Coffee)

I love the cover, but I just couldn't get into the story. I was over a hundred pages in when I finally decided that it wasn't working for me and I'd be spending my time better elsewhere.

~ Track Twelve: The Best Day ~

A book with good parental figures

(My Take)

While my memory for book details is astonishingly short, I remember Theo and ... Cleo? being pretty great as far as book parents go. Plus, there are some awesome aunts!

(I love this song and I think it's so underrated!)

~ Track Thirteen: Change ~

A book about a revolution

(My Take)

Of course, Les Misérables isn't only about a revolution, but the revolution plays a pretty big part at the end!
