Top Ten Tuesday: Summer 2025 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a tag hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader GirlThis week's prompt is "Books on My Summer 2025 To-Read List"!

Just a few days to go until summer officially begins! I haven't been to the pool or the beach yet, but you bet I've been making summer reading lists!

First of all, how well did I do with my Spring 2025 TBR?

Circe - Read

Daindreth's Outlaw - Currently reading

Demon Copperhead - Did not read

Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands - Read

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - Currently reading

Maman's Homesick Pie - Read

The Foxglove King - Read

The Highly Sensitive Person - DNF

The Storm Keepers' Battle - Read

Three Days in June - Read

Six out of ten! Not bad!

Summer 2025 TBR

(All covers are linked to Goodreads)

1. Aftertaste, by Daria Lavelle - This sounds like such a unique fantasy, and it will go towards my goal of reading five new releases this year!

2. Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation, by Michael Pollan - I love Michael Pollan's writing, and someone was telling me about this book recently. I'm excited to read it!

3. Miracle Creek, by Angie Kim - I really enjoyed Angie Kim's Happiness Falls; I'm excited to give this a try.

4. Remarkably Bright Creatures, by Shelby Van Pelt - I've been hearing so much about this book, and someone recommended the audiobook to me, so I'll have to give it a try!

5. Soulgazer, by Maggie Rapier - Gotta read a pirate book in summer!

6. The Dying Game, by Åsa Avdic - This was on a list of books Fredrik Backman recommended on his Instagram years ago. I want to (finally) get around to it!

7. The Fill-in Boyfriend, by Kasie West - It's been a minute since I've read a Kasie West book and it feels like a perfect summer read!

8. The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins - I've put off reading this for so long because my mom told me it's disturbing, but I'm coming to realize that disturbing content in books (unless it's super creepy) doesn't bother me too much. It's watching gore and creep that I absolutely cannot do.

9. The Names, by Florence Knapp - The blurb of this book on Goodreads reminded me of Kate Atkinson's Life After Life, which I really enjoyed, so I'm intrigued!

10. Well Traveled, by Jen DeLuca - This is set at a Ren Faire and I've always wanted to read a book set at a Ren Faire. I'm hoping it lives up to my expectations!

From last year's books that I didn't manage to get to, I plan to read David Copperfield, Girls Made of Snow and Glass, and Splintered this summer. I own Demon Copperhead, so I will get to that at some point this summer (hopefully) as well!

What books are you most excited to read this summer? Do you have any vacation plans?

  3. You did great with your spring TBR! I saw After Taste in the bookstore and thought it sounded great. Also, I hope you enjoy The Hunger Games. It is a bit upsetting at times, but I didn't find it to be too horribly disturbing. It's a good series.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

    1. Five out of ten is great! I just started listening to Remarkably Bright Creatures and, while I kind of wish I was reading it with my eyes instead of my ears, I'm enjoying it so far. We'll see how it goes!

  6. I still haven't read REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES! I've heard such good things about it and I even own a copy, so no excuses. I hope you enjoy it and all your other picks.
