Books I Want to Reread

There are certain books I'm always in the mood to reread: Beauty by Robin McKinley, Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, and Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. But lately I've been gathering a list of other books I want to reread for various reasons. Not sure if I'll get to all of them in 2026, but here we go! These are in alphabetical order, and all covers are linked to Goodreads.

Blackbird House, by Alice Hoffman

Aside from the fact that it was published in 2004, I think this could be a good comp title for a book I'm writing, so I want to reread it to double check my memory. (Comp titles should usually be published within the last five years.)

Enchantress from the Stars, by Sylvia Engdahl

I read this for school years ago and it was very thought-provoking.

Persuasion, by Jane Austen

I've read all of Jane Austen's books, but I don't remember Persuasion very well. I think I might appreciate it more now that I'm a little older.

The Left Hand of Darkness, by Ursula K. Le Guin

I think this is another book I read for school and found very thought-provoking. I really liked the setting and the characters Le Guin created.

The Scarlet Pimpernel, by Baroness Emmuska Orczy

I recently rediscovered Frank Wildhorn's musical based on the book and got the urge to reread this.

The Starless Sea, by Erin Morgenstern

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I preferred The Starless Sea to The Night Circus. This is another one that might be a good comp title for the book I'm writing.

The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke

Cornelia Funke used to be one of my favorite authors. I bought this at a used bookstore in Texas in October. It was so atmospheric and the main character was named Prosper, which I thought was so cool when I read it when I was eleven.

What are some books you want to reread? Do you reread often, or do you prefer new reads?

  1. I’ll have to finally finish/officially restart “The Starless Sea” from your high praise alone!

    1. I hope you're able to get through it this time! I've heard lots of people say they didn't like The Starless Sea, but I found it to be a lovely immersive escape.

  2. I didn't used to be a re-reader, but when a new book comes out in my favorite series, i will reread the previous books. This year I want to reread the Anne of Green Gables series (not sure I ever finished them all or not), and the Holly series by C.C. Warrens (one of my favorite authors of all time, and her series has a new book coming out in May). I hope you enjoy the rereads of all of these!

    1. That makes sense! I usually just muddle along smartly until I remember who the characters are and what happened in the previous books LOL! There are so many books in the Anne series. I had never heard of the Holly series, but it looks interesting!
