Top Ten Tuesday is a tag hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's prompt is "My Favorite Books by My Favorite Authors (Pick your ten favorite authors and your favorite book written by each one of them.) (submitted by Cathy @ WhatCathyReadNext)."
I actually think about this topic a lot, so it will be satisfying to have a list! I felt like alphabetizing it by author's last name, so that's what we have going on. All covers are, as usual, linked to Goodreads.
1. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen
Genre: Classics
Release Year: 1813
Number of Times Read: 4
No surprise here! If you've been around for a bit, you may know that I fell in love with this story all over again a couple months ago. Emma is my second favorite Austen novel, in case you were wondering.
2. A Man Called Ove, by Fredrik Backman
Genre: Fiction
Release Year: 2012
Number of Times Read: 2
I will read anything this man writes, but A Man Called Ove was the first one I read, so it holds a special place in my heart. My second favorite Backman book is Anxious People.
3. Hello Stranger, by Katherine Center
Genre: Romance
Release Year: 2023
Number of Times Read: 1
Katherine Center is one of about three romance authors I can stand. Her books are closed door, well-written, hilarious, and tender, but they also have depth. I've only read four of her books so far, but I'm working my way through her backlist!
4. Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier
Genre: Gothic
Release Year: 1938
Number of Times Read: 2
This, without a doubt, is one of the most masterful books ever written. Nothing I can say about it would do it justice. Go read it.
5. Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke
Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Year: 2003
Number of Times Read: 3
This was a formative book in my early reading experience. I can't even tell you how much I love it. So many of the recurring characters and story ideas and places in my books can trace their origins back to the Inkworld series.
6. Howl's Moving Castle, by Diana Wynne Jones
Genre: Fantasy
Release Year: 1986
Number of Times Read: 4
I randomly picked this off a library shelf when I was 16, read the blurb on the back, thought it sounded unique and fun, and read it on a whim. And let me tell you, it was the best whim I ever had. Again, words cannot do justice to how much I adore this book! Just go read it!
7. Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine
Genre: Middle Grade Fantasy
Release Year: 1997
Number of Times Read: 2
This is one of my all-time favorite books, and hands down the best Cinderella retelling I've ever read. I seriously can't believe I've only read it twice! What this tells me is that it's high time to read it again. (It's also quite possible that I'm just missing the other entries in my reading journal.)
8. Beauty, by Robin McKinley
Genre: Fantasy/Fairytale Retelling
Release Year: 1978
Number of Times Read: 2?
I love this book. I rave about this book all the time. I know for a fact that I've read this book more than once. But I can't for the life of me find more than one entry for it in my reading journal. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the last time I read it was in 2018, so I'm overdue for a reread on this one too!
9. Heartless, by Marissa Meyer
Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Year: 2016
Number of Times Read: 3
This book DESTROYED me in the best way possible. 10/10.
10. Moment of Truth, by Kasie West
Genre: YA Romance
Release Year: 2020
Number of Times Read: 1
I love all of Kasie West's books (that I've read), but I remember thinking this one was the best at the time I read it.

Rebecca was an interesting book for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is! Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteI expected to see way more Jane Austen among these lists. I was going to include her but my pick is Emma.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your #TTT
That's a good point, I'm not sure if I saw any! Emma is so good!
DeleteI used to tell people my favorite book was Rebecca. Then I reread it. Now I tell me my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. Love your list. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHowl's Moving Castle is currently my top favorite among the books on my list today – but of course, I love them all! :)
DeleteA Man Called Ove is one of my all time favorite books.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT for the week: https://readbakecreate.com/favorite-covers-for-murder-on-the-orient-express/
It's so good! Have you read any other Backman books?
DeleteHappy to see Howl's Moving Castle on your list. It is my eldest daughter's favorite story of all time :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's my (current) favorite too!! I feel like a lot more people know about the movie, though. My mission is to tell more people about Diana Wynne Jones's books!
DeleteI really enjoyed Pride and Prejudice. Such a great book.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.
It is one of the best books ever written and I will stand by that opinion!!
DeleteHave you read any Katherine Center? I feel like you might like her!
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie, A Man Called Ove. I bet the book is even better. Rebecca. So atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteI'm scared to watch the movie in case it messes with the book too much, but I am curious about it. I feel like Tom Hanks would make a good Ove.
