I actually think about this topic a lot, so it will be satisfying to have a list! I felt like alphabetizing it by author's last name, so that's what we have going on. All covers are, as usual, linked to Goodreads.
1. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen

No surprise here! If you've been around for a bit, you may know that I fell in love with this story all over again a couple months ago. Emma is my second favorite Austen novel, in case you were wondering.
2. A Man Called Ove, by Fredrik Backman

I will read anything this man writes, but A Man Called Ove was the first one I read, so it holds a special place in my heart. My second favorite Backman book is Anxious People.
3. Hello Stranger, by Katherine Center

Katherine Center is one of about three romance authors I can stand. Her books are closed door, well-written, hilarious, and tender, but they also have depth. I've only read four of her books so far, but I'm working my way through her backlist!
4. Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier

This, without a doubt, is one of the most masterful books ever written. Nothing I can say about it would do it justice. Go read it.
5. Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke

This was a formative book in my early reading experience. I can't even tell you how much I love it. So many of the recurring characters and story ideas and places in my books can trace their origins back to the Inkworld series.
6. Howl's Moving Castle, by Diana Wynne Jones

I randomly picked this off a library shelf when I was 16, read the blurb on the back, thought it sounded unique and fun, and read it on a whim. And let me tell you, it was the best whim I ever had. Again, words cannot do justice to how much I adore this book! Just go read it!
7. Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine
Genre: Middle Grade Fantasy

This is one of my all-time favorite books, and hands down the best Cinderella retelling I've ever read. I seriously can't believe I've only read it twice! What this tells me is that it's high time to read it again. (It's also quite possible that I'm just missing the other entries in my reading journal.)
8. Beauty, by Robin McKinley
Genre: Fantasy/Fairytale Retelling

I love this book. I rave about this book all the time. I know for a fact that I've read this book more than once. But I can't for the life of me find more than one entry for it in my reading journal. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the last time I read it was in 2018, so I'm overdue for a reread on this one too!

10. Moment of Truth, by Kasie West

I love all of Kasie West's books (that I've read), but I remember thinking this one was the best at the time I read it.
